Dear Ocean Energy Community,
The importance of renewable energies both for securing our energy supply and for establishing an environmentally friendly and low carbon economy continues to grow. Our ocean energy sector is moving ahead fast and is developing into a strategic energy resource, ready to contribute its share to the energy mix.
Ocean energy has the potential to create a pan- European supply chain with jobs in component manufacturing, infrastructure development, maintenance and many other sectors, given the right political and financial framework. I would like to take the opportunity to encourage you, as members of the marine energy community, to join our Ocean Energy 2012 annual conference and take an active part in shaping the framework and helping to increase awareness and understanding of ocean energy within the greater EU community.
