Dutch Ocean Thermal Energy developer Bluerise has started a collaboration with the Curaçao Airport Holding in the Netherlands Antilles, where an ambitious development plan is underway.
Not only will this project heat and cool the Airport premises, it will be a golden opportunity to develop research on this promising energy technology. Analyst Bloomsberg Energy Finance publishes a report that concludes that fossil fuels benefit from around 10 times as much subsidies than renewables.
Whilst many investors believe that renewables' growth is solely powered by government spendings, it appears from the report that in 2009, the subsidies for renewable energy production and biofuels worldwide were much lower than government spendings on the fossil fuel sector. This should make some investors think twice about what to invest in, especially considering the fact that the trend identified in the report is that the subsidies should lower towards fossil fuels and increase for renewables over the coming years.
