More...	Dutch Ocean Thermal Energy developer Bluerise has started a collaboration with the Curaçao Airport Holding in the Netherlands Antilles, where an ambitious development plan is underway. Not only will this project heat and cool the Airport premises, it will be a golden opportunity to develop research on this promising energy technology. Moreover, it will help reduce the airport's environmental footprint by providing it with sustainable renewable energy. The initial phase of the project will be completed within a few weeks. More...

Publication of the EU-OEA 2010-2050 Roadmap The EU-OEA launched its report "Oceans of Energy: European Ocean Energy Roadmap 2010-2050" on the 5th of May 2010, at a dinner debate hosted by MEP Britta Thomsen. Download your copy of the road map now!	Analyst Bloomsberg Energy Finance publishes a report that concludes that fossil fuels benefit from around 10 times as much subsidies than renewables. Whilst many investors believe that renewables' growth is solely powered by government spendings, it appears from the report that in 2009, the subsidies for renewable energy production and biofuels worldwide were much lower than government spendings on the fossil fuel sector. This should make some investors think twice about what to invest in, especially considering the fact that the trend identified in the report is that the subsidies should lower towards fossil fuels and increase for renewables over the coming years. More than 200 abstracts from more than 20 countries were submitted for consideration by the Organisation Committee. More...		The Norwegian electricity grid operator Statnett awarded a contract for the construction of the largest submarine HVDC cable, in the Oslofjord. The cable developer Nexans was awarded a contract for developing a new connection between Norway and Sweden. These cables, which will be 13km long each, and will reach a capacity of 3000 MVA. These are the largest cables of their kind in the world, and will help improve connection between Norway and Sweden. More...
